Make Your Voice Heard
With the 2026 legislative session in full swing, here are some helpful resources to get you up to speed on the issues facing healthcare providers in New Mexico and how you can use your voice to advocate for improvements to New Mexico’s healthcare system and the physician shortage.
Katie Gutiérrez of Think New Mexico joined us to lead a informative session for our community focused on reviewing the impact of New Mexico’s healthcare shortage and the proposed legislation aimed at addressing the issue during the 2026 legislative session. She also discussed strategies for how community members can become more involved in advocating for healthcare policy at the local and state level.
Joanne Turnbull, PhD, and Kathe Stark, MA, cofounders of citizen advocacy group Patients Primero, led a didactic session for our primary care residents centered on discussing how citizens can better advocate for improvements in New Mexico’s healthcare system.
