Press Release: New Mexico Primary Care Training Consortium Celebrates Thank a Resident Day with Blake’s Lotaburger Breakfast Donation

SILVER CITY, N.M. — Feb. 24, 2026 — The New Mexico Primary Care Training Consortium (NMPCTC) announced today that Blake’s Lotaburger will provide breakfast burritos and coffee to family medicine and internal medicine residents across New Mexico in recognition of Thank a Resident Day on Friday, February 27, 2026.

On the morning of February 27, breakfast will be donated to resident physicians training in family medicine and internal medicine programs in Albuquerque, Shiprock, Santa Fe, Alamogordo, Las Cruces, and Lovington. Each resident will receive a breakfast burrito, and coffee will be provided for residents.

Started by the Arnold P. Gold Foundation’s Gold Humanism Honor Society in 2018, Thank A Resident Day takes place annually on the last Friday of February and recognizes resident physicians and fellows for their contributions to patient care. New Mexico is home to more than 350 primary care residents statewide, training in family medicine, internal medicine, psychiatry, and pediatrics. That number is expected to increase later this year as the family medicine residency program in Lovington welcomes its second cohort and a new internal medicine residency program opens in Farmington.

The public is encouraged to share a message of support for Thank a Resident Day on social media using the hashtag #ThankAResidentDay. To learn more about the NMPCTC or to make a donation in support of residency training in New Mexico, visit NMPCTC.org.

Statement from Nicole Mandall, NMPCTC Chief Executive Officer:

“Residents are essential members of healthcare teams, especially in New Mexico. We’re extremely grateful to Blake’s Lotaburger for this donation and for their support of physicians who provide vital care to patients and communities across our state.”

Statement from Blake’s LOTABURGER®:

“At Blake’s Lotaburger, New Mexico isn’t just where we do business — it’s home. We see firsthand the dedication and heart our resident physicians bring to communities across our state, often working long hours to care for families, neighbors, and friends. Providing breakfast on Thank a Resident Day is a small gesture of appreciation for the big difference they make every single day. We’re honored to support these future physicians as they train, serve, and strengthen healthcare in Albuquerque, Shiprock, Santa Fe, Alamogordo, Las Cruces, Lovington, and beyond. To every resident across New Mexico — thank you for choosing to care for our communities.”
