A huge congratulations to Dra. Dolores Gomez, who was named the 2025 Latiné in Leadership Award recipient in the category of Leader in Health or Social Sciences. The awards, presented by the Covarrubias–Aprendamos Foundation and the Zamora Family Foundation on October 10, celebrate Latiné excellence across public sectors including health, education, and safety.

Recognized for her impact on health and social well-being in southern New Mexico, Dra. Gomez reflected on the honor: “This award is very humbling, and I think it’s very important because it recognizes Chicana women, Latiné women in Las Cruces and Doña Ana County,” she said. “It really highlights what a lot of us strong, empowered women can do in a community if we put our minds to it.”
Caroline Zamora, Co-founder of the Zamora Family Foundation, shared, “Acknowledging and celebrating Latiné professionals is more than recognition; it’s about representation. Dra. Gomez embodies the brilliance, compassion, and leadership that define our community.”
A board member of the New Mexico Primary Care Training Consortium and Program Director of the Southern New Mexico Family Medicine Residency Program, Dra. Gomez continues to exemplify the vision and leadership that this award honors.
